Itinerary:
Saturday 24th:
- Travel from Wellington to Masterton Station (Gold Card)
- Train leaves Wellington at 9.55am and arrives in Masterton at 11.30am
- Transfer with Tranzit and drive to Pukaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre for lunch and tour
- Drive 18 minutes north of Masterton on SH2 to Mount Bruce
- Head to Pukaha National Wildlife Centre for the tour, guided by a Department of Conservation ranger
- Visit the Kiwi House, Kiwi Theatre, see the animals of Pukaha and experience the daily feeds of eels and Kaka
- Drive back to the hotel and relax
- A fixed menu dinner will be provided at the Copthorne
Sunday 25th:
- Have breakfast at the hotel and check out at 9am
- Begin the South Wairarapa fun tour
- Visit Paua World to see an extensive range of Paua shell jewelry, beads and products
- Visit the Kahikatea Gardens in Greytown to see native plantations and meet some animals (donkeys, alpacas, deer, miniature horses and pet sheep) at the petting farm area
- Go to Greytown and learn about the histories of the area, including a visit to the Cobblestones Early Settlers Village and Museum
- End the tour of the museum with a visit to the Print Shop
- Taste the Schoc chocolate at the museum, which has over 50 flavours including caramel tequila, lavender and lime and chocolate salt
- Go to the Fell Museum in Featherston to see the last surviving example of a Fell Engine, a memorabilia audio visual presentation and a short historic film (see more details here)
- Have afternoon tea at the Fell Museum, including scones, club sandwiches and sausage rolls
- Visit a shop in Featherston that is famed for their extensive range of gourmet Wairarapa food, including unique NZ cheeses, cured meats, relishes, bread and more
- Train home departs Featherston at 5.26pm and arrives in Wellington at 6.25pm
