Over the summer months, choose the Sunset Classic for a peaceful evening paddle under the soft colours of the West Coast sky.\nUpgrade to the Kayak & Walk and step ashore onto a private, custom-built rainforest track that's accessible only by water and used exclusively by Franz Josef Wilderness Tours. Wander beneath towering kahikatea and rimu, some over 1,200 years old, and enjoy a hot drink from a scenic lookout along the way.\nThere's no experience needed. Lake Mapourika's calm, sheltered waters are perfect for first-time paddlers, families and couples (children aged 3–17 must be accompanied by an adult), and all kayaking gear, life jackets, dry bags and wet weather gear are provided.
