About Lake District Adventures:

Starting late afternoon at Lake District Adventures base on Horahora Road, you will paddle over the old submerged Horahora Dam that produced electricity for the early Waihi goldfields. You'll drink in the scenery as you learn about the rich history of the village that serviced the dam. Enjoy the twilight and silence of being out on the water as night arrives over the lake. Then up the Pokaiwhenua Stream and through the canyon, which has been carved out by water over many hundreds of years. Ferns and trees embrace you as the birds serenade your journey. When darkness falls, you will float back downstream, guided home by the soft, twinkling lights of the magical glow worms.
