About Paihia Mountain Bikes
The Waitangi Mountain Bike Park provides the perfect all-around option for mountain biking with a mix of easy, scenic trails that you can take at your own pace as well as some hardcore riding. It currently offers over 50km of varying difficulty trails with great flow and features, from downhill riding, jump trails, cross country and beginner trails. The trail network, designed by Jeff Carter from Southstar Trails, has grown rapidly over the past year and the trails cater to all levels of ability. There are plenty of fast, flowing berms, rollers and jumps. Grade 2 and 3 runs are so well built, they’re still fun for more advanced riders - some of the best in New Zealand
The initial trail design and development has focused on the family-friendly grades with many of the trails built grade 2 (easy), grade 3 (intermediate), some grade 4 (advanced) and few Grade 5 (Expert) tracks. The downhill trails milk the most out of the vertical elevation available providing a lot of fun for a small amount of climbing
All up there are five zones to be developed (70-80km) so there’s plenty more trail development planned in the years to come, as well as an internal shuttle service (picked up at the bottom and dropped off at the top). Constructed by the award-winning Focus Paihia community group, these trails are a huge asset to the region - you will be hooked after the first time you ride. Check it out at here.
The bikes are some of the best out there for the Mountain Bike Park! They have a team of full-time mechanics on board to ensure your bike is running well and safe to ride. They have 2017 and 2018 models of some top Front Suspension (Hardtail) and Full Suspension bikes available for you to enjoy the tracks on. Don’t settle for anything less!
