About the World Press Photo Exhibition:

Every year, armed only with a camera and an unwavering commitment to the truth, press photographers throw themselves into perilous situations in order to capture moments that portray the anguish, struggle, beauty and hope that would otherwise go unseen. This is your chance to celebrate the brilliance of the invisible heroes behind the lens.  

For the other 364 days of the year, we look at the photographs in newspapers, magazines and online publications without realising what the photographer went through to snap the shot. For this one day, the World Press Photo Exhibition shifts the focus to those behind the lens, so that we can better appreciate how great their risks are. These photographs are more than ink on glossy paper – they're a physical representation of a truth.
