About Rescue Run:

Have you got what it takes to save a life? Event organiser Mark Cathro knows from personal experience just how important our emergency services are to the community, so when approached by the Auckland Rescue Helicopter in 2015, asking if he could help them raise money Mark found himself in a unique position to be able to make a difference. Eight months later, he presented the Rescue Run concept, and agreeing to produce the entire event the Rescue Run was born. The inaugural 2016 event was a smashing success - raising over $185,000 - the equivalent of saving 37 lives (37 Chopper missions)!

The Rescue Run has expanded in 2018 and looks forward to helping even more charities, each organisation involved in the Rescue Run saves lives in its own unique way and they need our support to continue operating and providing lifesaving services. This year we are raising funds for St John, Surf Life Saving, Land Search and Rescue, Fire & Emergency NZ, and the Coastguard Northern Region. That’s why they’re asking every team to fundraise for the run - you too can help save a life!
