Treatments:
Massage:
Meridian focused massage (meridian and acupressure massage): a style of massage based on traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture with no needles involved.
A meridian and acupressure massage is a massage that focuses on massaging the meridian/ energy pathways of the body. The massage consists of long flowing strokes along the meridians interspersed with specific pressure on acupressure points. It is a style of massage based on traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, with no needles involved.
Cupping:
Cupping is a therapy in which plastic cups (at Free Flow clinic) are applied to the skin along the meridians of the body, creating suction and believed to help stimulate the flow of energy. Cupping is a type of alternative therapy that originated in China. It involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The suction may facilitate healing with blood flow. Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair. It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue.
Acupuncture:
Acupuncture has been part of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. It involves inserting fine needles into specific points on the skin or applying various other techniques to the acupuncture points to restore balance and encourage the body to heal itself.
Needle insertion creates a micro-trauma in the surrounding tissue initiating an inflammatory process. As a result, fresh blood and nutrients flood the site. A substance called prostaglandin regulates inflammation and mobilises platelets for healing. This effect may also heal any surrounding tissue damage left over from past injuries.
