Cupping
The process consists of cups (which are traditionally made of natural materials such as bamboo or clay, but are now most commonly made of glass or silicone) being applied to a person’s body in a way that creates a vacuum between the inner surface of the cup and the person’s skin. Through this vacuum, a suction is created that facilitates the release of toxins from the body’s tissues from up to four inches below the surface. This suction also brings new blood and lymphatic fluid to the region, allowing for an influx of fresh oxygen and other vital nutrients into the region and an increased capacity to transport waste materials out.
Moxibustion Treatment
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCN) technique that dates back over 2,500 years. It involves applying burning mugwort to specific regions of the skin to, as in all TCN, bring the body into balance and ensure the proper flow of qi (chi). Moxibustion is often used in conjunction with acupuncture or in its place for those who prefer an alternative to needles. As with many "Eastern" practices, the Western medical sphere contests the benefit of moxibustion. Despite centuries of treatments, western science desires concrete data to back up the anecdotal evidence.
