Itinerary:
Day One - Fly to Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi and be welcomed at the airport. You will then be transported to your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure.
Day Two - Private Street Food Tour and Water Puppet Show - (B/L or D)
Choose out of two options 10.30am - 1.30pm or 5.30pm - 8.30pm. Sample and try Vietnamese cuisine and then watch a traditional Water Puppet Show which is a unique Vietnamese art form hailing from Southeast Asia's wet-rice culture.
Day Three - Hanoi to Mai Chau (B/L/D)
Drive to Mai Chai with a brief stop in Hoa Bihn City and to stop and take pictures of the spectacular scenery. You will be hosted by the White Thai minority people and will get to try some of their homemade rice wine and learn about their lives and culture after your meal. Spend the evening in a dorm or a bungalow upon request.
Day Four - Mai Chau to Hanoi (B/L)
After breakfast set off on an easy trek through neighbouring villages where you will get to see how the local people live their day to day lives herding buffalo or tilling the fields. Your driver will meet you Khoe Village and then take you to Lac Village for lunch. Afterwards take a walk around the hamlets before returning to Hanoi, where you will have the rest of day/ evening at leisure.
Day Five - Hanoi to Halong Bay (B/L/D)
Your guide will pick you up and start your journey east to Halong Bay through the rice villages of the Red River Delta. On arrival board a traditional junk boat and spend the day cruising through the beautiful limestone islets. The boat is anchored for the evening in the middle of a stunning lagoon where you will enjoy a delicious seafood meal and enjoy an evening dip off the side of the boat. You will sleep overnight on the luxurious boat.
Day Six - Halong to Hanoi and Night Train to Da Nang (BL)
Wake up to tai chi on board and continue cruising the beautiful waters. Stay on the boat before returning to Hanoi before boarding the night train to Da Nang. ( A flight is available upon your request - contact merchant for more information).
Day Seven - Da Nang to Hoi An (B)
After getting picked up from the station you'll head to Hoi An with a stop at the Marble Mountains. In Hoi An you'll visit an lovely old-style house, the Japanese Covered Bridge, a Chinese temple, tailor shops and the market.
Day Eight - Hoi An (B) - Choose from My Son or the Basket Boat Tour
My Son is 70km south-west of Da Nang and boasts many ancient ruins that date back 1,700 years and is the most intact example of ancient Champa ruins that Vietnam has maintained. Transfer back to Hoi An and enjoy your free time to explore as you please
Basket Boat Tour will start after breakfast at your hotel and your guide will collect you by bus or bike and transfer you to Cam Thanh, where you will learn about the local fishing industry and culture. After you will visit a local home and share a cup of tea and then be briefed on the safety and how to use the round basket boat correctly. After your tour has finished you will be treated to a light snack at a local home and then have free leisure time in the afternoon.
Day Nine - Fly from Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh (B)
Spend the morning as you please until it's time to transfer to the airport and fly to Ho Chi Minh. On arrive you will be welcomed by your tour guide/ driver and transfer to your accommodation to check in and then spend the afternoon and evening as you wish.
Day Ten - Ho Chi Minh - Cu Chi Tunnels (B)
After breakfast partake in a half-day private excursion to the Cu Chi Tunnels and get a real sense of experience and feel what underground life was life during the U.S Vietnam War. Head back to the city and spend the afternoon and evening to spend as you please.
Day Eleven - Ho Chi Minh - Mekong Delta (B/L)
Head to the fishing village My Tho where you will take a boat ride along the river where you will see the stilt houses and the fruit plantations. Head to Tortoise Island for lunch in the orchard and then enjoy a boat ride along the natural canal in Ben Tre. You will then visit a family business that epitomises the rural lifestyle, continue along the creeks and then trek through the fruit plantation before returning to the village. After a full day of activity, you will be driven back to Ho Chi Minh.
Day Twelve - Fly home (B)
After breakfast, the driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Tan Son Nhat International Airport for your flight back home
