Itinerary:
20 December: Arrival in Kathmandu (B)
Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport. A representative of Family Treks office and driver will greet you at the airport to escort you to your hotel. The rest of your time is free to move and see the hotel. In the evening a senior trek guide will brief you about the details of the trek. Stay overnight at the ancient city of temples.
21 December: Pasupatinath (B)
Half day sightseeing, at Pasupatinath, Baudhanath and Swayambhunath and trek preparation day. Overnight stay at the hotel.
22 December: Kathmandu - Lukla (B)
Early breakfast and drive to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport for an early morning flight to Hillary’s Lukla. Upon arrival at Lukla, meet the other crew members and sort arrangements and packing. Start the trek at the village of Lukla and arrive at Phakding. Overnight in Phakding.
23 December: Phakding - Namche Bazaar (B)
Trek to Dudh Koshi River through many suspension bridges. The trail climbs through the forests and bridges until we reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. You will then reach Namche Bazaar and stay overnight in Namche.
24 December: Acclimatization Day (Christmas Celebration) in Namche Bazaar (B)
Hike to Everest View Hotel where you can get some of the best views of Mount Everest and entire Himalayan range which can be done in the daytime. Don't miss the chance to catch the sunrise and sunset views. At 12am midnight you can open up our wine bottles and beers and enjoy this special occasion. You will stay overnight under the moonlight shadows of the king of all peaks – Mt. Everest.
25 December: Christmas Day - Trek from Namche - Tengboche (B)
In the morning, after a lovely Christmas breakfast, hike down to Tengboche. En route enjoy the view of mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, Thamserku and so on. Visit Tengboche Monastery. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.
26 December: Tengboche - Dingboche (B)
We leave Tengboche and start towards Dingboche. You will spot a lot of Yaks grazing en route. Crossing Imja River, you will eventually reach Dingboche where you will stay the night.
27 December: Dingboche to Lobuche (B)
Continue your trip up the wide valley at the impressive Cholatse and Tawache. Enjoy lunch at some teahouse of Dughla. Gently ascend along the glacier and eventually reach at Lobuche. Stay overnight at a local guesthouse.
28 December: Lobuche - Gorakshep - EBC (B)
Follow the Khumbu Glacier to reach our next stop, Kalapatthar. At Gorakshep, have an early night preparation for EBC trek the following day. Once you reach the EBC, return back to Gorakshep again for an overnight stay.
29 December: Gorakshep - Pheriche (B)
Trek early in the morning to Kalapatthar. Return back to Pheriche and stay overnight.
30 December: Pheriche - Tengboche (B)
From Pheriche, stroll down to Tengboche. Stay overnight at a local guesthouse.
31 December: Tengboche - Namche Bazaar (B)
Stroll the same way back to Namche from Tengboche. Head over the Dudh Kosi River trail and wind down pass Kyangjuma. After passing a Chorten you will reach the army camp at Namche Bazaar. Stay overnight at a guesthouse.
1 January: New Year's Day - Namche Bazaar - Lukla (B)
Today is another special day. The trail descends steeply downward and crosses the suspension bridges over the fast flowing Dudh Kosi. Hike through Sherpa settlements and arrive at Lukla for some lunch. In the evening there is a farewell dinner followed by a few celebratory drinks to bring in the New Year 2018. Overnight in Lukla.
2 January: Lukla - Kathmandu (B, D)
After breakfast, fly back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival you will be taken to your hotel where you have the rest of the time to your leisure. Attend an exciting celebration dinner for completing the Everest Base Camp trek hosted by Family Treks. Overnight in Kathmandu.
3 January: Drive to the airport and return home (B)
After breakfast an office vehicle will be on standby to transfer you to the airport for your flight home. Ciao friends! Till we meet again.
