What to Expect:
Days one to three are spent out sailing with your instructor, you’ll learn how to handle the boat and its systems, to sail your desired destination, navigate in the Bay of Islands, make good decisions based on the weather, and choose anchorages. After a full day sailing and learning, you return to the base where you sleep aboard safely tied to our dock in Opua (the instructor goes home at the end of each day). You can cook aboard or eat out.
Days four to six you are in charge, the boat is yours and you are the skipper; choosing your own course, choosing your own anchorages, sailing in one of the world’s best-cruising grounds and practising your new sailing skills. Don’t worry, before you cast off we discuss your passage planning, review navigation in the Bay of Islands, give you updated weather forecast information and guide you on suitable anchorages and points of interest for the following days.
