About Eliza's Manor Boutique Hotel:
An illustrious history of Eliza’s Manor spans over three centuries. Built in 1861 by CW Wyatt a member of the Provincial Council and the Executive Council, he then sold it a couple of years later to a merchant Maurice Harris. HF Pyne (of Pyne Gould Guinness – PGG) bought the property in 1908 and began extensive renovations incorporating the timeless elegance the Manor House is known for – including installing the Kauri timber staircase in the foyer entrance which was crafted in Scotland and shipped back to NZ in one piece.
Following that the house became a boarding house, a private hospital, a lodging house, family home and then as it currently stands – luxurious accommodation and function venue. Eliza’s Manor was significantly damaged in the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes but rebuilt and made stronger bringing the manor house up to code.
This wonderfully iconic and historic manor house has all the charm of yesteryear with the conveniences of today.
