Wrights Vineyard & Winery is a true family business with a winemaking history that dates back to the 1930s. All their grapes are grown organically using biodynamic techniques, so as a guest of the Wrights, you know you're in for a real treat.
The cellar door is great for all weather conditions as it has inside and outside seating and as it is only a 15-minute drive from the city, it is the perfect place to relax with family and friends. With an outside play area for kids and petanque for the adults, this is a great summer spot. During January on Saturday's the cellar door will also have live local music.
The winery produces a great range of award-winning organic wines which can be chosen by the glass from the Wrights Estate Chardonnay, to the Natural Wine Co Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Rose, Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Noir. The Natural Wine Co wines use no fining agents, indigenous yeasts and certified organic grapes.
Wrights Vineyard and Winery have won many accolades over the years, recently been awarded Top 5 Chardonnay producer in New Zealand. Gisborne is known as the Chardonnay Capital of New Zealand and the Wrights produce premium Chardonnays. They have also been awarded 5 stars for their Late Harvest wine and their Wrights Fume Blanc (orange wine).
