About Private Pilot License:
The course is made up of a mixture of theoretical knowledge required (ground exams) and actual flight training. Your trial lesson will count towards the course requirements and it will be the very first entry in your PPL logbook.
At least 50 hours of flight time is needed, which must be made up of at least 15 hours dual instruction and 15 hours solo flying (the balance can be either dual or solo). This can also include at least 10 hours cross-country flying (5 hours dual and 5 hours solo), 5 hours advanced dual instruction and 5 hours dual instrument flying. Most students usually require about 60 hours to complete their PPL, however, this varies from person to person.
About Nelson Aero Club:
The Nelson Aero Club was formed on 28 September 1932 and has had over 85 years of operation.
The Aero Club first operated from what is now Saxton Field and moved to the airport site in the late 1930s, although activity ceased during WWII. The club has occupied different buildings on the airport site until finally moving to their current hangar in February 1996.
The club has an excellent safety record and the aircraft are maintained within strict CAA requirements.
They try to cater for families and like to see young and old up in the air as well as involved in social events. They have members aged from 17 to over 60.
