Mini Catamaran:
- There are comfortable reclining lounger seats for two people
- Ideal for a couple or for a family of two adults and two small kids aged 5+
- Children under 5 are not permitted on the red and blue catamarans due to the lack of railings around the side
- The self-drive boats are very easy for anyone to operate and no license is required
Akaroa Electrical Boat:
- “Akaroa” was designed and built in France as the ideal electric hire craft, comfortable for 7 people and very easy for beginners to steer. The deep cockpit is safe for children. Ideal to share with your family and friends. Kids will love to steer the boat!
English River Launch Boat:
- Solar powered English river launch “Solarly” is a true classic with ample space for 6 people either inside or outside the cabin. The design dates back to the 1920s and these electric boats have been popular on the upper reaches of the River Thames for 100 years. Solarly began her life in England, spent many years on a lake in Switzerland and has now arrived at her new home in Kerikeri. She has ample batteries to run all day, plus a full solar canopy to provide both power and shade. The rear cabin is enclosed by glass to keep you warm in the winter without spoiling the view. The deep cockpit is very safe for children. Solarly is recommended for guests who have some previous experience steering boats. Note that there is not full standing headroom for adults so this boat is not recommended if you have a bad back.
About The New Zealand Electric Boat Co.:
The New Zealand Electric Boat Co is New Zealand's first and only electric boat hire. The team sailed their yacht to Europe and there they saw thousands of electric boats going out every day, full of happy smiling relaxed people. They were amazed that nobody was doing this in New Zealand where the environment, the scenery and the weather are just perfect for it. They decided to sail back to the base on Kerikeri River in the beautiful Bay of Islands and bring sustainable electric boating with them! The three little catamarans were purpose-built in New Zealand as electric hire craft. The two larger electric launches (one classic and one modern) are also designed specifically for hire and were built in the UK and France. Between them their boats have a total capacity of up to 21 people to accommodate large groups, families with kids and their mini catamarans are a perfect romantic escape for couples or a relaxing afternoon for singles.
