Massage Options:
Relaxation Massage
Swedish Massage involves hands-on techniques such as Efflurange and Pettrisage. It is intended to help circulation, reduce stress, relieve anxiety, improve sleep, and promote relaxation throughout the entire body. While relaxation massage is wonderful for you, it is less effective than the deeper styles for changing soft tissue tension. It is normally recommended to receive deeper styles when you are suffering pain and leave relaxation for when you just want to relax.
Essential Oils Massage
During an Essential Massage, you inhale essential oil molecules or absorb them through your skin. They are thought to help promote beneficial changes in your mind and body by affecting the limbic system, a region of the brain known to influence the nervous system.
Hot Stone Massage
A hot stone massage is a type of massage therapy used to help you relax and ease tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout your body. During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body, then are used to massage tension spots. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat.
Trigger Point Therapy
A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, may produce referral pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache. Trigger point massage therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. In this type of massage for trigger point therapy, the recipient actively participates through deep breathing as well as identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort. Receiving massage with trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help naturally manage pain and stress from chronic injuries.
Sports Massage
Pre and post event sports massage is specifically designed to help an athlete perform at their best and recover as quickly and effectively as possible after their event. Pre event massage can be carried out anytime from two days to immediately before an event. Post event massage should be done as soon as possible after the event.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to help eliminating pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.
Therapeutic Therapy
Therapeutic Massage Therapy is defined as the mobilization of soft tissue (such as muscle, fascia and body fluids) to help restore normal systemic and bio-mechanical/functional use. A combination of Swedish Massage, deep tissue and trigger point therapy can be used to assist in the treatment. Therapeutic Massage Therapy is designed to help improve circulation alongside lymphatic and neurological functioning.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It's designed to help chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular therapy is a form of soft tissue manipulation that aims to treat underlying causes of chronic pain involving the muscular and nervous systems. This medically-oriented form of massage is intended to helo addresses trigger points (tender muscles points), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues, and biomechanical problems that can be caused by repetitive movement injuries. Postural assessment required active, passive and restricted range of motion is tested. This identifies the affected muscle/s to be treated.
Pregnancy Massage
This relaxation massage is a great option for pregnant women. Intended to help relieve tension on the back, legs and feet. The client is helped into a side lying position on the table with pillows behind the back and between the legs for support and comfort. The Therapist then starts with small circular rubbing movements on the temporal down the neck then gentle Swedish massage down the spine to the feet. The first trimester of the pregnancy is about the health of the mother and the development of the fetus. Alleviate therapy will only massage pregnant clients starting at the second trimester.
