Step-by-step guide to help you out:
- Boil Water: Start by boiling water. You’ll need about 350 grams (12 ounces) for a standard 4-cup French press
- Measure Coffee: For a rich brew, use a ratio of about 1:15 of coffee to water. That means 30 grams (about 2 tablespoons) of coarsely ground coffee for 350 grams of water
- Preheat the French Press: Pour some hot water into the French press to warm it up, then discard this water
- Add Coffee Grounds: Put the coarsely ground coffee into the bottom of the French press
- Add Water: Slowly pour hot water over the coffee grounds. Make sure all the grounds are saturated, then give it a gentle stir with a wooden spoon or plastic stirrer
- Steep: Place the lid on the French press with the plunger pulled all the way up. Let the coffee steep for about 4 minutes for optimal flavour extraction
- Press: After 4 minutes, slowly press the plunger down. Apply even pressure and take your time to avoid any spills or over-extraction
- Serve and enjoy
