About Sculptureum Gardens & Galleries:

Sculptureum, a portmanteau of sculpture and museum, is Anthony Grant's dream long in the making now fully realised in Matakana. Rejecting the traditional notions of how to display art in its many forms, the gardens and galleries that makeup Sculptureum play host to a vast and varied collection of pieces. From humpback whales crafted from driftwood by Jack Marsden Mayer, to Cracking Art giant pink plastic snails and an otherworldly Dale Chihuly glass chandelier. Art has no limits here, with the very grounds themselves becoming a work to enjoy in their own right. Apprehension has no place in the gardens and galleries, welcoming both the keenest artistic minds and those less versed in creative expressions to find awe and inspiration amidst the grounds of Sculptureum.

A combination of elegance, style and a modern-yet-rustic design makes Rothko Restaurant feel simultaneously as if you are dining at a five-star restaurant and in the warm embrace of home. The restaurant floor is laid out beautifully and filled with light, encouraging you to relax, soak up the fresh and beautiful landscape, or nestle in beside the wood fire and find a minute of calm. The young yet extremely talented head chef Jarrod McGregor has handcrafted the menu drawing inspiration from the sea and fertile land surrounding Rothko. Each item on the menu is meticulously designed in a way that breaks free of culinary expectations, stimulates the palate and the eyes, and shows how food can look spectacular while staying true to the pure flavours of the ingredients involved.
