Chris Pask saw the potential for viticulture in the Gimblett area. In 1981 he planted the first vines in Gimblett Road and kicked off the now globally-lauded Gimblett Gravels wine district. His instincts were right on the money! The winery owns and manages almost 100 hectares of established vineyards on its Gimblett Road vineyard. The majority of this vineyard is located within the unique Hawkes Bay sub-region known as Gimblett Gravels. The Gimblett Gravels appellation, covering 800ha, is strictly determined by the gravelly soils laid down by the Ngaruroro river, exposed after a huge flood in the 1870s. Winemaker Kate Radburnd joined Pask from Vidal, where she had enjoyed a stellar career for seven years. Since then the winery has continued to amass an impressive number of awards. Kate has worked 30 vintages in Hawkes Bay and has become one of this country's most acclaimed winemakers and a leading figure in the industry. This wine has tropical fruit, capsicum and herbs characters on the nose carry through onto the palate. This Sauvignon Blanc is fresh, tangy, zesty and green-tinged. Neatly balanced and great with food.
